World tours are notorious for emitting massive amounts of fuel emissions and creating tons of waste. But modern artists like Billie Eilish and Coldplay are leading the way in trying to make their tours more sustainable and as eco-friendly as possible. Eilish has partnered with Reverb, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a more sustainable music industry. Reverb has worked alongside Eilish to help make her ongoing Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour more sustainable, by encouraging fans to take mass transit to and from the shows, making more plant-based food options available on tour, allowing reusable water bottles at venues, instituting a “no idling” policy for trucks, promoting enhanced recycling measures, and donating excess catered food and hotel toiletries to area charities while on the road. “We just hope that we can get together and use the power of the collective audience to make changes,” says Lara Seaver, Reverb’s Director of Touring and Projects.
